17/3/17 - Friday saw 4 of our children from Y5/6 represent our school at the Gold School Games Mark celebration event at The Ageas Bowl in Southampton. Over 40 schools from across Hampshire were in attendance, all of whom had achieved the Gold School Games Mark for sport. During this day long event, the children enjoyed a tour of the stadium and its facilities, t-shirt design/making in commemoration of the school's achievement, multi-skills/teamwork activities, expert coaching in Cricket and Hockey from professional athletes and coaches , Q+A session with England U-20 Netball star Kellie Hull and finally an awards ceremony to recognise outstanding performances on the day.
In all of the day's activities, our 4 children were fantastic ambassadors for our school. Competing with enthusiasm and dedication, a great day was had by all.
This was further emphasised by the award of a golden hockey stick to our school, presented by Rio 2016 Olympic Hockey star Sam Ward. Only 2 schools on the day were presented with one of these mementos (complete with signature and Rio 2016 Olympic branding) to recognise their efforts and skill during the earlier Hockey training session. This will be displayed for all to see on top of our school trophy cabinet.
With continued dedication in their P.E lessons, after school clubs and sporting competitions, we hope to be back at next years event!
Team: Liam Kavanagh, Leona Chiverton, Charlie Moss, Elizabeth Lafolley.
16/3/17 - Thursday night saw sportsmen and women from across the Isle of Wight recognised at the annual IOW Sports Foundation Awards ceremony held at Medina Theatre in Newport. For the first time this year, Primary and Secondary schools were nominated for their commitment to and provision for school sports. We were delighted to receive a nomination alongside 7 other primary schools in the Junior School category. Whilst we did not win the category overall (congratulations to Hunnyhill Primary on this achievement), to be nominated alongside successful, well established sporting schools was a massive vote of confidence in all the children's efforts in after school clubs and sports competitions and events.
Well done everybody!
6/2/17 - Nine of our Y5/6 children visited the IOW Table Tennis Centre at Smallbrook for an afternoon of coaching and playing the game. Most of the children had never played table tennis before, so it was a fantastic opportunity to learn new skills in a new sport. From correct racket handling, types of shot, skills matches and friendly games, our children had a great afternoon learning and playing together.
27/1/17 - Yesterday we took 10 of our Y4 boys to Ryde School for a Rugby Ready taster event along with several other Island primary schools. Coaches from Ryde School and Priory School delivered sessions in passing and safe contact tackling. They then used these skills to play matches against each other.
A great event and the children particularly enjoyed the squash and doughnuts at the end!
Massive thanks to Ryde School for hosting this event.
9/12/16 - Today our school was presented with our plaque for achieving the Gold School Games mark. Our local School Games Officer, Andy Day, was in attendance to present the award. All of our hard work is paying off as only around 400 primary schools in the whole country manage to achieve this standard. The award recognises participation, inclusion and promotion of sporting activities and competitions.
7 Children were also presented with a P.E Bright Sparks award for excellent improvement and effort in their P.E this school year. Well done to all of you!

Today we received the news that the school has been awarded the Gold Mark for the School Games Award. Huge congratulations go to all the current and former pupils, as their hard work and participation in school sports has made this possible. Well done to us all!
