School Place Planning
Update from the Local Authority
Good morning, Dover Park.
As you know, last year all schools on the island went through a school place planning process. 6 schools were eventually named for closure and only Cowes Primary School was closed. This was a challenging time for all primary school communities - especially those named for closure. The island still has a large number of surplus school places and school place planning remains under review.
The local authority have asked all headteachers on the island to provide parents and carers with the attached letter. The purpose of the letter is to invite families to take part in a listening and engagement session. This is an opportunity for parents and carers to share their views and experiences, which will help inform future discussions and thinking on school place planning.
The local authority are keen to ensure that families feel heard and that their perspectives are considered as part of their ongoing work. This is to help ensure that all families have equal access to this opportunity to engage.
Please find the letter attached.
Kind regards,
Mr Kirby
