Portsmouth SCITT
At Dover Park Primary School, we are proud to be working in partnership with Portsmouth SCITT, part of the University of Chichester Academy Trust, to support the training of future primary teachers.
We are especially delighted to host trainees on the Isle of Wight in our dedicated teacher training room — the only specialist space of its kind on the island. Located on our school site, this room provides a professional and supportive environment where trainees can learn, collaborate, and reflect on their practice.
Portsmouth SCITT is recognised as an Outstanding provider and offers a high-quality, one-year programme leading to PGCE and Qualified Teacher Status. Their nurturing ethos, research-informed approach, and commitment to personalised training closely align with our own values as a school. We share a strong belief in the importance of developing confident, reflective practitioners, while prioritising wellbeing and professional growth.
By welcoming trainees into our school community, we are proud to contribute to a programme that Ofsted has described as “superb,” where trainees are supported to develop their individual strengths and grow into skilled, passionate teachers. This partnership enriches not only the trainees’ experience but also the learning environment for our pupils, who benefit from fresh ideas, enthusiasm, and up-to-date teaching approaches.
At Dover Park Primary, we believe that investing in the next generation of teachers is vital. We are proud to play our part in preparing talented, dedicated educators who will make a positive difference to children’s lives across the Isle of Wight and beyond.
